this could be something that doesn't HAVE to be plugged in. Upon the app's next update I once again received notifications of the updated higher temperature and "power lost" (since it wasn't plugged in still). The temperature in my vehicle was much higher than in the RV. And since I did not have the device plugged in & just operating on its internal battery I was also receiving notifications that "power had been lost" in the RV. Very quickly I began to receive alerts indicating the temperature in the RV was unsafe for a pet. I placed Waggle into an RV on our grounds at Haylett RV. After only maybe 5 minutes I had registered the device, selected a service plan, picked my notifications, and went back about my day. Searching thru the settings menu I was able to very simply identify the notifications options, choose those that best fit my needs, and basically just forget about the device. Here I was able to monitor the temperature and humidity in the RV where I placed the Waggle device. Initially, I felt almost overwhelmed with the app, but then I realized 99% of what I need and want from the app is available thru the "Safety" tab at the bottom of the screen only a tap away. Activation was extremely quick & I was in business almost immediately. The setup was fast and easy taking only minutes thru the free app. I'm a fan! If I were a person who camped regularly with pets, then this is definitely something that I'd consider among my RV's accessories. I wanted to see if it really lived up to all of the hype and marketing that I read online.Īnd I will say. But as an avid pet owner and regular RV'er myself, this product really spoke to me. Still, for peace of mind, this is certainly a solution.I don't do many gadget/accessory reviews like this. If you’re nerdy or have some form of internet connectivity in your rig already there may be cheaper ways to do this. Of course, on some motorhomes and fifth wheels with generators and more advanced climate control systems, these systems can kick in when needed to create a safe condition for pets as well and start climate controls. The box includes a door hanger that you can put outside the RV to indicate that your pet is being monitored which is nice. However, they have no issues processing my iTunes gift cards for my convenience. But those people who call from the IRS are difficult to understand, also. There were other complaints that the tech support was not the best with operators being difficult to understand. While the Waggle monitor is highly rated, there are some complaints on Amazon of the app being laden with more bloat than needed. If you’re hiking in the backcountry this solution might not work. Furthermore, you have to have a smartphone and that phone has to have service to receive the alerts. Since this device works only on Verizon this will only operate if there’s a decent Verizon signal in the area. The device does have a built-in battery so it will continue to send alerts if the power drops out. The device also monitors power so if the power’s out you’ll get an alert for that as well, which is good to know. This is useful in cases where the ambient temperature might be outside the comfort zone for animals and you’re worried about the AC or furnace not operating properly. If the temperature inside the vehicle falls outside the range you’ve specified, you’ll get an alert on your phone and can take action. Since the device uses the Verizon network, there is a monthly monitoring fee that ranges from $12.50 to $16.50 per month, depending on how long you commit to in your subscription.
